after God's heart
This is my first log on the blog, "My cup brims" My blog name calls for an explanation. "My cup brims" is taken from Psalm 23 a favorite psalm of many people. Most know the line, "my cup runneth over" a portion of verse 5. "My cup brims" is from the Bible version called, The Message". David the psalm writer is one of my favorite persons in the Bible. He was shepherd boy who became a king. Most remember him from the story of David and Goliath. That was only the beginning of his history in the Bible. He rose to be the greatest king in Israel's history, He reign for 40 years. David was not perfect but his one great quality I admire in him. God said about, 'I have found David son of Jesse a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.' Acts 13:22 There is no great calling for all mankind then to be a person after God heart. David was a worshiper of the one true living God. He knew God's great love and he returned that love. When David penned, "my cup runneth over" he was acknowledging that God had filled his life with blessings overfl owing. I, too, acknowledge that God has filled cup with great blessings to the brim and is continuing to overflow, my cup brims. Even right now I sitting in library of the Eagle Mt. House in Jackson, NH in the heart of the White Mountains. This area, the White Mountains is brimming over with wonderful memories of my life with so many of my favorite people, family and friends. It's 7am and I'm letting my wife sleep in. We are on a retreat of 4 days to just enjoy each other. One of a few retreats we take each year to give each other our uninterrupted attention and love we need. Our cups gets filled each time we step away from our normal life that is busy but also brimming over with blessings. We have been together for nearly 40 years and our marriage cup brims over and over. This blog will be a place to tell of the blessings God puts in my[our] life. It will also be a place declare the goodness of God for other to reflect upon. God wants to bless all who read this blog. He wants to fill your cup with blessings brimming you can't even imagine. “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” 1 Cor 2:9 . In future blogs I will teach of how to recieve His blessings to brim your cup but right now I'll wake my wife, Edith because we have a full day of blessings ahead, skiing, hiking, reading, writing, hot tubbing, eating, talking, yada, yada, yada. Just enjoying the brimming blessings of our God in Christ. His grace and peace to you.
